Page 2 of 2 On Design and Flashy Extras We've been in the web design business for over a decade and have seen many, many changes in technology. It's true that these changes helped create what we had previously only been able to dream of, but they also afforded web developers some fantastic opportunities to get downright playful and artistic. But is art really what is needed and wanted? And is the usual accompanying high price warranted? We look at it this way. There remains one constant -- The purpose of design is to communicate. No matter how technical the task, or flashy the look, if it doesn't communicate what you do it doesn't work. Our policy is to steer clear of flash and other techno bells and whistles. First of all it can really bloat the cost of building a website. And in all honesty, it can sometimes be an actual hindrance to what your website visitors are looking for. Unless you are an entertainment company showcasing your latest movie trailers such as Disney or MGM, chances are flashy animations are just not needed. We take special care in making sure you get a website that communicates your message. This, by no means, translates into a dull and boring website. On the contrary, your content, your message, your product ... That's what should be noticed! Not a bunch of techno, wow factor, wizardry that puts a stop in front of your visitors. If you're still not convinced, think of this analogy... You own a real life store in a Mall. Before people can enter your store they have to stop and watch a 30 second short on a video screen. Then once they enter your store, they have to walk through it very slow watching various cool things dangling in front of them even though they are in a hurry. The only easy thing for them to do is leave. So they do. And even worse, before leaving they still haven't figured out what you have for sale. Maybe they'll come back just for the cool experience. The problem is, they're not coming back to buy anything. They don't even know what you're selling. Just as easily, you could have a store that is fun and inviting while showcasing your goods for sale. It doesn't have to be Disney Land to accomplish this. Take a look at some of our design projects in our Portfolio and judge for yourself.
